Our appeal for local people with skills and a little time to spare
06 January 2025
Have you got ‘green fingers’ or are you skilled with a camera? Would you like to work with children and are you looking for a new challenge in 2025? If so, we want to hear from you!
This year, we are looking for people in the local community who may have skills that would be hugely helpful with regard to our day to day operations at our two centres in Runcorn and Wallasey.
Volunteer gardener
At our Wallasey centre, the gardener, who has transformed the outside space into an attractive and easily manageable garden, has now retired. If anyone with gardening skills would be able to offer an hour or two a week to keep the area maintained, Stick ‘n’ Step would love to hear from them.
Volunteer photographer
Capturing on film the work our conductors do in the classroom with the babies, children and young people who attend conductive education sessions is a real challenge, but vitally important, as is taking pictures to record important events. We are seeking someone with a keen eye for a picture and the necessary skills who would like to be a volunteer photographer. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Volunteer classroom assistant
Looking for a volunteering opportunity working with children? Our Wallasey centre is looking for volunteer classroom assistants to help out on Tuesday mornings and/ or Thursday afternoons, term-time only. The classroom sessions comprise play, exercise and song to help children with cerebral palsy develop functional skills and reach their own personal potential. If you have a passion for working with children and have great communication skills, this could be a perfect opportunity.
Volunteer fundraising administrator
Do you have an eye for detail and are you a dab hand with admin processes and procedures? Your skills would be warmly welcomed at either of Stick ‘n’ Step’s centres to keep their fundraising operations running smoothly. A commitment of a minimum of 4 hrs per week is required.
For more information about any of these roles, please email info@sticknstep.org.
Our Chief Executive Sarah Smithson, says,
Our local communities provide us with incredible support, and we couldn’t do without them when it comes to achieving our fundraising goals. We know that there are lots of people out there with wonderful skills, who may also be able to spare a little time to offer practical help too. We would love to hear from them!
