In February 2025, Stick 'n' Step announced the appointment of our new Patron, Billy Hui BEM, DL Deputy Lieutenant of Merseyside, renowned presenter on BBC Radio Merseyside, and founder and musical director of SingMe Merseyside Choir.

A staunch advocate for the voluntary sector and the value it brings to the whole community, Mr Hui’s relationship with Stick ‘n’ Step dates back for over a decade.

He and his choir, SingMe Merseyside, are long-term supporters of ours, having supported us through numerous bucket collections at various musical engagements all over the region.

At the end of last year, Mr Hui hosted our Strictly black tie event once more, emceeing with wonderful enthusiasm, ensuring the whole evening really went with a swing.

Commenting on his new role as patron of Stick ‘n’ Step, Billy Hui said,

I was born in Wallasey so I feel a very local connection to Stick ‘n’ Step. I will always remember the first time I visited its Wallasey centre and saw the fantastic work being carried out there. I am very proud to be associated with this charity, and I am absolutely delighted to have this opportunity to contribute further in my new role. I will be looking to raise funds and also awareness so Stick ‘n’ Step can go on helping children and young people to reach their full potential, while supporting their families to help make their lives a little easier too.
